1940's

This is a 1940's Dior sketch. The skirt is pleated (it looks like it would have to be made of accordion pleat fabric). There is a lot of fullness in the skirt. The top is fitted and shows off the waist. It has a silhouette that is similar to ballgown but not quite because the skirt is not floor length and it is not as full. It is like a miniature ballgown :) Very cute style and I've actually seen similar outfits starting to come back. 1940's inspiration anyone?

1930's

This illustration is from the 1930's. The style is very feminine. The outfits are luxurious and structured. Though the dress is simple, it still makes a statement with its plunging neckline. The largeness of the collar and cuffs on the coat add glamour to the outfit. The jacket shows off the figure of the woman and because the buttons are not placed in the traditional area it creates a different look and brings freshness to the jacket.
